Pontari Productions' Color_Gradient Copyright 1995-1997 Pontari Productions. All rights reserved. This SGI port of our Color Gradient shader was done by Marvin Landis. You should follow the normal steps to install a plugin user SGI LightWave. This does require LightWave 5.0. This is a plugin shader for LightWave 5.0 It will color a surface using a gradient between two colors you specify. You can control the direction of the gradient by giving a direction vector. An example is a gradient that is going from left to right on the x-axis has a direction vector of (1.0, 0, 0). Up and down is (0, 1.0, 0) and so on. You can also give the gradient a velocity. The gradient has a size after which it will repeat. The size is in LW units. Note there will be a sharp color change when the gradient begins to repeat. Make the size larger until it correctly maps to your objects surface. To install this copy it to your plugins directory. Then you need to add it to Layout using the "Add Plug-ins" button on the Options panel. This will add a new plugin shader in the surfaces panel calledn Color_Gradient Inlcuded with this archive is the DNA object from LightWave with a sample gradient, once you have installed the plugin load it into LightWave and render it to see how this shader works. The source is also avaiable in case your interested, check our web pages for details.
